K Natarajan Takes Over As DG of Indian Coast Guard

 Shri Krishnaswamy Natarajan took over as 23rd chief of Indian Coast Guard here today. A 5th Batch Officer of the Indian Coast Guard, he joined service in January 1984. During the initial years, he specialised in select core competencies viz. Search and Rescue as well as Maritime Safety and Port Operations, at the US Coast Guard Reserve Training Centre, Yorktown, Virginia. The incoming Director General holds a Master's Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies from Madras University and is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.


2nd anniversary of Goods & Services Tax to be celebrated on 1st July 2019

The second anniversary of Good & Services Tax (GST) will be celebrated tomorrow with Hon’ble Union Minister of State of Finance and Corporate Affairs Shri Anurag Thakur presiding over the event.

Shri Subhash C. Garg, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Revenue Secretary, Secretaries of the Ministries of Finance, Shri P.K. Das, Chairman CBIC, Members of CBIC, and senior officers of various Ministries of Government of India will also attend the event. Senior functionaries of the apex chambers of commerce, trade and industry will also be present in large numbers. Similar functions will be held across the country in all States and Union Territories.

GST was launched on the 1st July, 2017 in a majestic ceremony held in the Central Hall of Parliament on the midnight of 30th June, 2017. Hence, the Government alongwith partners from the trade and industry is celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of GST on 1st July 2019.


Sarada Kumar Hota took over as NHB MD

Government of India, Canara Bank General Manager (GM)Sarada Kumar Hota assumed charge as the National Housing Bank (NHB) Managing Director
It lasted for a period of three years.  He succeeds Sriram Kalyanaraman.

India successfully test-fired indigenously developed nuclear-capable missile Prithvi-ll.

India successfully test-fired indigenously developed nuclear-capable missile Prithvi-ll. A surface-to-surface missile, from a test range off the Odisha coast. 
Prithvi is the first missile developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) 
They are under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP). The trial carried out from a mobile launcher from Launch Complex-Ill of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha.  The launch activity carried out by the Strategic Forces Command (SEC).


RBI sets minimum Leverage Ratio shall be 4% for DSIBs and 3.5% for other banks

The Reserve Bank of India has announced that from October 01, 2019 the minimum Leverage Ratio for Basel III Capital Regulations will be 4% for Domestic Systemically Important Banks (DSIBs) and 3.5% for other banks.


RBI launches CISBI portal for keeping track of Banking Outlets

The Reserve Bank maintains the directory of all Banking Outlets/offices in India. This directory is known as the “Master Office File” (MOF) system. Until now the system was updated manually as banks reported the details of Banking Outlets via email. Now to automate this process RBI has launched a portal Central Information System for Banking Infrastructure (CISBI) (https://cisbi.rbi.org.in) to replace the MOF system. It will also allot the Basic Statistical Return (BSR) code / Authorised Dealer (AD) code to BOs/offices.


Central Government sets deadline for states to roll out the ‘one nation, one ration card as June 30, 2020

The central government has given State/UT Government a deadline of June 30, 2020 for implementing the ‘one nation, one ration card’ system. Under the scheme, the beneficiary can buy subsidised foodgrains from ration shops in any part of the country.


India, Indonesia set USD 50 billion trade target by 2025

India and Indonesia have set a USD 50 billion target for bilateral trade over the next six years i.e till 2025. Trade between the two countries in 2016 was USD 12.9 billion. It rose 28.7%  to USD 18.13 billion in 2017 The decision was taken in a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joko Widodo who discussed ways to deepen cooperation in a number of key areas including economy, defence and maritime security. The two leaders are in Osaka, Japan for the G20 Summit, met to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in trade and investment.


Pullela Gopichand Receives Honorary Doctorate by IIT Kanpur

India’s chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand has been bestowed with the honorary doctorate by IIT Kanpur on the occasion of their 52nd convocation on June 28, 2019.
The honour was bestowed on Gopichand by former chairman of ISRO  and Chairman of board of Governors of IIT Kanpur, Prof K Radhakrishnan.  Infosys Chairperson Sudha Murthy and missile woman Tessy Thomas were other two to received this honour. The former recipients of this prestigious award are Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and former Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh. 


Veteran Telugu Writer Abburi Chaya Devi Passes Away

Noted Telugu story writer Abburi Chaya Devi passed away at the age of 86.She received the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 2005 for her book ‘Thana Margam.’
