Kyriakos Mitsotakis sworn in as the Prime Minister of Greece

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek conservative leader, sworn in as the Prime Minister of Greece. The election result gave New Democracy an outright majority with 158 seats in the 300-member Greek parliament. He is EU's most indebted member who promised to end a decade of economic crisis.


 Gully Boy won NETPAC award in Bucheon film festival

Film-maker Zoya Akhtar's directorial 'Gully Boy' won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award at the 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) in South Korea.  NETPAC Jury Committee, comprised of NETPAC members and film professionals which features newer genres and varied stories of comedy, fantasy and drama  Gully Boy', features actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is based on the lives of street rappers. The film performed well in the Indian and overseas market.  It will also be screened at the 2019 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. 


MS Dhoni became the only second Indian player to reach the 350-game mark in ODI

MS Dhoni became the only second Indian player to reach the 350-game mark in One-Day International cricket (ODI). The first Indian to set the record was Sachin Tendulkar.
He has been tagged as one of the best finishers in the sport. Dhoni led India from 2007 to 2017. Under Dhoni's captaincy won its second championship in the cricket world cup. He also led India to No. 1 position in the ICC Rankings. 


BCCI appoints Rahul Dravid as Head of National Cricket Academy
Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) by BCCI. Rahul Dravid will look after all cricket related activities at the NCA and he will be involved in mentoring, coaching, training and motivating players, coaches and the support staff at the academy.
National Cricket Academy is located in Bengaluru 


Magnus Carlsen Wins 2019 Croatia Grand Chess Tour
Magnus Carlsen of Norway defeated French player Maxime Vachier-Lagrave to win the Croatia Grand Chess Tour with eight points out of 11. The world champion won his eighth straight tournament in a row. Filipino-American player Wesley So finished second with seven points . India’s Viswanathan Anand ended up with 4.5 points and finished 11th.


Sunil Chhetri and Ashalata Devi wins AIFF Award
All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced the awards for the 2018-19 season. Indian men’s footballer Sunil Chhetri has won the AIFF Men’s footballer of the year 2018-19 award. Women’s footballer Ashalata Devi has won the Women’s footballer of the year award.


Mexico Beat US to win 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup (Football)
Mexico defeated the United States 1-0 to win the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup for a record eighth time at Soldier Field in Chicago. Jonathan dos Santos scored the only goal for Mexico. The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the 15th edition of the biennial international men’s football championship of the North, Central American, and Caribbean region organized by CONCACAF.

Narendra Singh Tomar Launches Coffee Table Book to Commemorate 50 years of Partnership with UNWFP
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has launched a Coffee Table Book named ’50 years of Partnership for Change’ on July 8, 2019 in New Delhi.
The book has been launched to commemorate five decades (50 years) of partnership between the Ministry and UN World Food Programme (UNWFP) towards addressing food and nutritional security in India.


Former India goalkeeper Celestine passed away
Former Indian football team goalkeeper A. U. Celestine has passed away at the age of 73 years.
Celestine played for the Tamil Nadu men’s team in the Senior Nationals as a goalkeeper in the 1965 and 1969 National Championships and also represented India in the Merdeka Cup in Malaysia in 1969.


UAE’s Sharjah issues rst gold card permanent residency to Indian expat
UAE-based Indian business tycoon Lalo Samuel has become the first expat in Sharjah to get the gold card permanent residency. Unlike the long-term visa of 5-10 years for businessmen and talented individuals, the gold card gives permanent residency of the UAE to the holder. Samuel, who was selected as one of the top 100 Most Influential Indian Business Leaders in the Arab World by the Forbes magazine continuously for 2013, 2014 and 2015, became one of the 6,800 investors with total investment exceeding USD 27 billion to receive the gold card under a scheme announced in May by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.


Cost of Rs 2000 note falls 65 paise per piece in 2018-19
The cost of a Rs 2000 currency note fell 65 paise or 18.4 per cent in 2018-19 compared to the year-ago period. Introduced after demonetisation in November 2016, Rs 2000 notes are printed only by
the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Pvt Ltd (BRBNMPL) — a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RBI. The selling price of Rs 2000 note from the BRBNMPL was Rs 3.53 apiece in 2018-19. It declined 65 paise from Rs 4.18 apiece in 2017-18. The selling price of a Rs 500 note was Rs 2.13 in 2018-19, lower than Rs 2.39 in the same period a year ago. The selling price of Rs 200 note per piece declined to Rs 2.15 in 2018-19 compared to Rs 2.24 in 2017-18
