An amount of Rs. 781.42 crore has been released to institutions under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) during last three years (2016-2019). An amount of Rs. 63.63 crore has been spent on high quality books and learning resources under TEQIP-III, which are being used in regular Teaching-Learning process at TEQIP-III institutes. Further, in order to improve the employability of the students, GATE training and Employability skill training have been provided to final year students. A total of 8,645 & 17,384 students have been provided training during 2017-18 & 2018-19 respectively through TEQIP-III. The newly admitted first year students are provided 3 weeks’ bridge course on Mathematics, Physics, Communication skills and Computer knowhow.
Mukhtar Abbas NAQVI flags off first batch of Haj pilgrims two lakh indian muslims going to Haj this year
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi flagged off the first batch of Haj 2019 pilgrims from Indira Gandhi International Airport with prayers of country’s safety and prosperity yesterday in New Delhi.
Shri Naqvi congratulated the Haj pilgrims and extended best wishes to them for their pilgrimage. A total of 419 Haj pilgrims including 202 women left from Delhi in the first flight. These Haj pilgrims are from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, Agra, Meerut, Rampur and Bulandshahar.
Vaibhav Yadav, Indian pro boxer won World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia title
Indian pro boxer Vaibhav Yadav became the WBC Asia silver welterweight champion. They defeat Thailand's Fahpetch Singmanassak in the title bout held in Pattaya, Thailand. Yadav, a cousin of Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Vikas Krishan clinched a third-round knockout over Singmanassak. The fight, which took place was conducted by the Asian Boxing Council It is approved by the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Jio launches ‘Digital Udaan’, a digital literacy initiative in partnership with Facebook
Reliance Jio has launched a new digital literacy programme “Digital Udaan”, aimed at providing digital literacy to the first time internet users who are using the connected internet ecosystem and apps for the very first time.
The Jio Digital Udaan programme is being launched across 200 locations in 13 states in partnership with Facebook.
As part of the initiative, Facebook will handle the content end and its relevance to the target audience, and also provide training programmes with videos and information brochures to those who will handle the literacy initiative on behalf of Reliance Jio.

The Reserve Bank of India has constituted a Working Group to Review Regulatory and Supervisory Framework for Core Investment Companies.The working group has six members and is headed by Shri Tapan Ray. He is a Non-Executive Chairman of Central Bank of India and former Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India.

Punjab & Sind Bank has set up the Centralised MSME & Retail Group (Cen-MARG) for credit facilities at its head office in New Delhi. The unit is named as Cen-MARG. Now, all MSME and retail credit approvals will be performed at this centralized setup. Cen-MARG was inaugurated by S. Harisankar, MD & CEO of Punjab & Sind Bank.

Christine Lagarde has been nominated as the president of the European Central Bank. She will replace Mario Draghi, whose term ends on October 31, 2019 Christine Lagarde is the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. She has announced to temporarily relinquish (give up) her responsibilities as head of IMF. Economist David Lipton has been appointed as the interim MD (Acting Managing Director) of IMF in place of Lagarde. The European Central Bank is the central bank for the Eurozone, which comprises 19 member states of the European Union.
