Vinesh Phogat won gold medal in the 53 kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019

India’s top wrestler Vinesh Phogat won her first gold medal after shifting to 53kg category and Divya Kakran claimed the top honours in the 68kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019 at Madrid, Spain. In the championship, India finished second with 130 points in team championship behind Russia which secured 165. Vinesh defeated Dutch rival Jessica Blaszka at the finals. She is one of India’s medal hopefuls at the 2020 Tokyo Games. 


Odisha state government implemented the Centres Witness Protection Scheme 2018


The Odisha state government implemented the Centre’s Witness Protection Scheme 2018. Naveen Patnaik led Odisha govt. informed the Orissa High Court on 6 July. By this Odisha became the first State to implement the Scheme. On December 5 2018, Supreme Court has directed all States and Union Territories to endorse the Central scheme on Witness Protection Scheme-2018. 

Brazil won the Copa America2019 title


Brazil won its first Copa America 2019 title since 2007. It defeated Peru and secured 3-1. The team already owns the fifth and ninth Copa América trophy.  The event was hosted by Brazil. Everton was named player of the final and also finished as one of the tournament's top scorers with three goals. Dani Alves, Brazil's right-back, was awarded the player of the tournament.

Rajya sabha passed the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on 8 July. It allows the voluntary linking of the 12-digit identification number as part of know your customer (KYC) guidelines to open bank accounts or get a mobile connection. The bill will become a Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) law after President’s approval. 

Uttar Pradesh govt set target to become 1-trillion economy in coming years


Uttar Pradesh government set the target to become one trillion dollar economy in coming years . The state can contribute in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of expanding the country's economy to 5 trillion dollars.

Budj Bim Cultural Landscape received UNESCO's World heritage list


The Budj Bim Cultural Landscape in south-west Victoriahas received UNESCO's World heritage list. It is the first in Australia to be in the list. UNESCO's desicion recognises Budj Bim’s significance to all of humanity. Budj Bim is the 20th site in Australia to make it on to the UNESCO World Heritage List

Iran breaches uranium enrichment cap set by troubled 2015 nuclear deal .Iran breached a uranium enrichment cap set by a troubled 2015 nuclear deal and warned Europe against taking retaliatory measures.  Iran surpassing the cap and reaching 4.5 percent enrichment announced by the country's atomic energy organisation spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi.

IOC removed Kuwait suspension and allows participating in 2020 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) removed the ban on the Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC) and permitted to compete in the 2020 Olympics.  Kuwait suspended in October 2015 following under government interference with the basic principles that govern the Olympic Movement. FIFA suspended the Kuwait Football Association for the same reason in October 2015. KOC successfully implemented a roadmap agreed between all parties  They participated in the 2020 Olympics. 

Six Sigma health care has proposed to set up a High Altitude institute of mountain medicine in  Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.

Six Sigma health care has proposed to set up a High Altitude institute of mountain medicine, training and research centre Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The High Altitude institute will deal with the health issues related with high altitudes.  Project and approval: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat approved the proposal for setting up the institute which was given by the medical director of Six Sigma, Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj.  


M Nageswar Rao appointed as Director general of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard

M Nageswar Rao appointed director general of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard
The Central government appointed M Nageswar Rao, Additional Director of CBI as the Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard. He will continue to hold the post till superannuation in July 2020. Former CBI Chief Alok Verma was also given the same post.

RBI board finalised Utkarsh 2022 to improve regulation and supervision
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board has finalized Utkarsh 2022, a medium term strategy, to improve regulation and supervision, among other functions of the central bank.  RBI's board: The decision was made by RBI's board that met in New Delhi. It finalized the 3-year medium-term strategy document which covered inter-alia, its mission and vision statement. The board approved the RBI’s budget for the July 2019-June 2020 period.


ISRO signs contract with Glavkosmos for the selection support, medical examination and space training


Indian Space Agency, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has signed a contract with Glavkosmos, a Russian company. The agreement aims for the selection support, medical examination and space training of Indian astronauts for the country’s proposed maiden manned space mission Gaganyaan.
